Fulfilling the Plan for Your Life! (Jeremiah 29:11-14 a) — letting go of our children!

We read in Jeremiah 29: 11-14a: ” For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says The Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall you call on me, and you shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And you shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you,….”
There are patterns and themes that reoccur as we travel forward in time! These patterns crop up no matter where we are or how old we get! I’m in the Philippines now. I’m a senior citizen. When I see the path God has led me down, I recognize that I have been recycling issues God wants me to deal with! They seem to always keep coming up! He has given us each innate talents and opportunities, but before He can use them, we must give them to Him to use as He wishes! I have a tendency to give them to Him, but hold on to certain ideas that contradict my gift!
We have a son. We love him! He makes choices that surprise me. As a Christian who seeks God, he knows the path he has chosen! With a serious relationship with God he listens to the Holy Spirit, yet, I too often want to question his choices! As parents we need to follow the advise –“Let go and let God”. I think I’m like other parents. As Christians, we give our children to God, yet, we want to protect them. We question their choices, yet often it is through sorrow that we have grown, so we need to allow the same growth to happen to them. We need to allow them to prosper as God wills! God has work for them to do! They can only do that with training only God can give them on the path he leads! We need to allow them to be in God’s hands and keep them in prayer! You’d think I would learn this lesson, but I forget! We hinder our children’s growth when we hold them too tightly! Only God knows our children’s deepest thoughts and talents, and the path He wants them to go down!
