Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. – faith lived before millions!

I have never watched a fight before! We have a friend in the United States who first turned us on to Manny. We were in Missoula, Montana and got our friend from Boise, Idaho, to help us load our moving truck. A Pacquiao fight was going on and he had to watch it! We went to the Pressbox Bar, but the fight still didn’t click with me! We moved to Las Vegas (the Fight Capital of the World) and I read articles in the Review Journal. The articles high-lighted Manny Pacquiao’s faith. It is important to him! Now, that got my attention! As I seek to live out my faith, I find it inspiring to see high profile people living exemplary lives! That encourages us all! Facing pressures from the world, they show great spiritual courage by speaking up in an increasingly faithless world!
Sylvester Stallone has a new movie coming out that represents faith in a fighters life, but Manny lives the real thing! Before the fight he knelt down to pray! He did this before fans in the arena, watching on HBO and Showtime, and anywhere else they saw the replays! He did it humbly and honestly! Although he lost the fight, in the long run, he wins!
We are told in Matthew 10:32 —
“Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in Heaven.”
Clearly Manny is showing us how to set an example before others! His humble obedience speaks to many who may never step inside a church, but who see a Godly man in an arena speaking to the depths of their Spirit! This is a stark contrast to the loud, self-serving entrance, and then end of the fight by Mayweather! He may have won the fight, but I pray that he is humble enough to know the battle is not over! ” You can gain the world” but it is meaningless without a relationship with the Lord Jesus! Our lives speak volumes about who our God is!
“Behold I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they scourge you in their synagogues, and you shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake,
